Finding an Electrician

Finding an electrician may not be that difficult but finding a good electrician can be much more complicated. There are some general guidelines for finding a good electrician and they are not too hard to adhere to. The temptation to use an independent electrician may be great, especially if you have a friend or acquaintance who knows one. This can save money initially but in the long run you may be sorry as independent contractors are not always reliable. Here are some quick and easy tips when finding a good electrical contractor for your remodel or construction project.
1. Use the internet to browse through some of your local contractors.
2. Check to make sure they are licensed and bonded. This does not always appear on the company’s website so if you are unsure call and ask.

4. Ask the contractor about jobs they have done in the Electrical Contractor Business past. Sometimes these credentials can tell you a lot.
5. Make sure that the electrician who will perform your job is a licensed journeyman. Apprentices are fine but they must be accompanied by a licensed journeyman at all times.
6. Make sure that if you enter a contract that you understand the terms and have read the fine print.
7. Check to see if the contractor is a member of any organizations such as Associated Builders and Contractors of America.
8. Make sure the electrician you choose has a good deal of past experience.
9. Ask questions about how long the job will take to complete and how much the total cost will be. This insures that you do not get any surprises down the road.
10. Shop around.
